Brighton And Hove Golf Club

19th Century Clubhouse
The majority of the clubhouse is the original building from the 19th century, although in 1996 a modern Pro Shop and changing rooms were added. A feature of the clubhouse is the coal burning stove in the middle of the lounge, which ensures a lovely feeling of warmth in those winter months, often welcomed after a windswept round.

SUCCESS IN MAIL ON SUNDAY

Congratulations to our team in the Mail on Sunday competition. Last year we reached round 7 before losing away at Parkstone, and this year we have got off to a great start. We beat Pyecombe 3 - 2 at home in the first round, and then had a great victory away at Copthorne, also by a score of 3 - 2. The team so far has been Tim Hoyles, Peter Ward, Jason Reid, Peter Collins and Mike Atkins.

DROP HOLE PATH

A big thankyou to Chairman of Green Richard Deakin for organising the refurbishment of the drop hole path. Richard enlisted the greenstaff Jason and Kevin who worked tirelessly in awful conditions. Club Captain Peter Ward also braved the elements for 2 days and his help was invaluable. Further works are scheduled on the path, but the difference already is fantastic.

Well Done Chaps

HOLE IN ONE

Congratulations to Paul Walker who had a hole in one on the 6th hole during the January Stableford on his way to 40 points and Victory. Well done Paul!

BONSALL WINS AT SEAFORD HEAD

Club professional Phil Bonsall secured his 3rd win of the season in horrendous conditions at Seaford Head on Friday 28th August. Playing in gale force winds Phil shot 73 to win by one shot from Charlie Giddings. "I have never played in wind like it, even after over 12 years of playing Brighton & Hove" said Phil. "Downwind drives were going 375 yards, but into the wind only 175!" With a howling left to right wind on the 18th, Phil hit a driver and a 3 wood to about 15 feet on the Par 5 to set up a 2 putt birdie and the win.
