People have been playing golf at Brighton & Hove since 1887. The beautiful downland course offers amazing views over the South Downs and the Sea. In fact many of these views are unchanged from when those first players teed off over 115 years ago.

The course is a 9 hole gem. It offers completely different tees on the back 9, and is a great test of golf for even the most accomplished player. Six par 3’s, two par 5’s and ten   par 4’s make up the par of 68 for men, and two of the par 4’s are par 5’s for the ladies giving them a par of 70.

Elevation changes are a feature of the course, none more so than on the par 3 6th hole which is featured in “The 100 Most Extraordinary Holes in Britain” Your shot from an elevated tee is hit out into mid air, and hopefully finds the green some 155 yards away, but also 100 feet below you. Depending on the wind the hole can play anything from a flick with a wedge to a full blooded 3 iron.

Excellent drainage on the course means we are open all year round, and it is extremely rare to see a temporary green at Brighton & Hove. The greens are excellent, and a recent re-building of five of the tees will just add to the enjoyment of your round.

The Club is a traditional members club, but both green fees and societies are welcome. The tee is closed on Wednesday morning for the ladies, Friday morning for the Veterans and Sunday mornings for Gentlemen. At all other times we welcome visitors, but a quick call to the Pro Shop to check availability is advised.

After your round, why not enjoy a drink and some food in our clubhouse, with outstanding views over the course, the downs and the sea. The majority of the clubhouse is the original building from the 19th century, although in 1996 a modern Pro Shop and changing rooms were added.

A feature of the clubhouse is the coal burning stove in the middle of the lounge, which ensures a lovely feeling of warmth in those winter months, often welcomed after a windswept round.

Playing golf at Brighton & Hove really is a treat. You feel like you have gone back in time to the days of old, whilst still benefiting from modern amenities. Come and see for yourself why Brighton & Hove Golf Club is 117 years old and still going strong.
