WELL DONE LADIES
Brighton & Hove Ladies won the South Downs Trophy played at The Dyke on Thursday 16th October. The competition is contested by 7 local clubs, and this is our first win since 2003. The team consisted of Judy Snell, Judy McKemey, Sandy Steele, Hazel Sheard and Jan Gill. Special congratulations to Sandy, whose nett 73 proved to be the best score all day, and Judy McKemey who shot nett 74, the second best score of the day, which included double bogeys at 15 & 16.
The ladies also won the final of the National 9's Plate, with the team of Emma Gill, Jo Galway, and Judy McKemey winning at Foxbridge on Sunday 19th October.
REID & MILLYARD - ORDER OF MERIT
The season long race for the order of merit titles is over. The Scratch Order of Merit covers the best 6 gross scores from March to October, and it was won by Craig Millyard despite a late charge by Tim Hoyles who finished just one shot behind.
In the Nett Event in which points are awarded at each qualifying competition from March to October, Jason Reid emerged victorious. Michael Fenton had taken a big lead early in the season, but an injury kept him out for a long period of the Summer. A very consistent season from Jason who joined B&H this year playing of 7, and is now off 5, saw him overtake Michael with 2 great performances in the Autumn Meeting.
Well done to both Craig & Jason.
STUART MAPLESDEN WINS
Congratulations to Stuart Maplesden on winning the Sussex County Golf Union Centenary Jug played at Mid Sussex on Thursday 25th September. Playing off a 3 handicap, Stuart scored 38 points. He will now represent Brighton & Hove and Sussex in the national finals at Woodhall Spa next August.
